紙幣一般會稱作為 “note”。
£5紙幣他們會叫 five pound note/ a fiver
£10紙幣他們會叫 ten pound note/ a tenner
假如金額小過一英鎊的時候，我們可以叫便士作 “p”， 是 “pence” 的簡稱。
£0.50 fifty pence / fifty “p”
有些時候，當地英國人於日常會話會以 “grand” 千 (thousand) 這個單位。例如 : David paid three hundred thousand pounds for a flat. 大衛支付了300,000鎊買了房子。這個時候我們也可以說成 “David paid 300 grand for a flat”。除此之外，他們會以 “K” 代表1000，源於公斤 “kilogram” 開首之 “kilo” 一字，因為一公斤等於 1000克。例如：His annual salary is eighty-five K. 他的年薪是 85K (即是 85,000)。
更有趣的是，有些時候英國人喜歡以動物或某一些人物名稱作為某些金額的叫法，例如：
i. A pony (一隻小馬) = £25
ii. A monkey (一隻猴) = £500
iii. Bangers and mash = 現金
iv. 另外由於國際古典音樂家Luciano Pavarotti是男高音， 而tenor發音與 £10 tenner 相似， 因此時當地人叫10英鎊為Pavarotti ..
